Seed Storage
Long-term seed viability starts with the right environment. At Nindethana, we offer secure, temperature-controlled storage across our national network, supporting restoration, research, and landscape projects of every scale. Whether seed is sourced through Nindethana or supplied from approved external collections, we store it under conditions designed to maintain quality, stability, and usability over time.

Our Approach
Seed behaves differently depending on species, age, and how it’s been handled. That’s why our storage systems are built around evidence-based practices: stable temperatures, controlled humidity, minimal light exposure, and careful monitoring. In 2025, with generous support from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and the Thyne Reid Foundation, we expanded and upgraded our storage infrastructure to further strengthen seed resilience and streamline operations.
Across all locations, temperature and humidity sensors feed into a central monitoring system, giving our team real-time visibility of storage conditions. This helps reduce degradation, maintain consistent quality, and ensure seed is ready when needed for restoration or propagation work.
Why store your seed with us?
Seed storage is a core service we provide to support restoration, research, and land management projects across Australia. Many native species are sensitive to moisture, temperature changes, and poor handling, which can quickly reduce viability. By using our controlled-environment facilities, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your seed is kept in stable conditions, monitored by an experienced team, and ready for use whenever you need it.
Our Storage Facilities

Albany
Our Albany facility provides secure, climate-controlled storage designed for long-term seed viability. Equipped with temperature and humidity monitoring, this site supports projects across southern Western Australia and maintains stable conditions for both large and small seed lots.

Sydney
Located in Richmond, our Sydney storage hub offers controlled-environment storage ideal for maintaining seed quality year-round. This facility supports a wide range of regional projects across NSW and provides reliable access to high-quality native seed.

Brisbane
In 2025 we installed a new 20-foot temperature-controlled storage container at Norman Park, fitted with air-conditioning, a dehumidifier, shelving, and a dedicated workstation. Strip curtains help maintain internal stability, allowing us to manage seed more efficiently and protect viability for Queensland and northern NSW projects.
